Team Twinnie Charity Challenge
Sammantha Aston, a member of the Ferryspeed sales team, has this year challenged herself to complete 12 charity runs. We spoke to Sammantha to find out what motivated her to take on this feat and how you can get involved.
Tell us more about your challenge…
“I am completing 12 charity running events throughout 2019! These range from 5km runs right through to a 10 mile event and everything in between. I’m undertaking this challenge as part of Team Twinnie, comprising my husband, our son and myself, as well as a selection of honorary team members who are joining us for individual events”.
What charity is this challenge in aid of?
“We are running for Sarcoma UK, a national charity funding vital research campaigning for better treatment and supporting anyone affected by sarcoma cancer. It is the only
UK charity that focuses on all types of sarcoma”.
What inspired you to choose Sarcoma UK?
“In 2014, I lost my twin sister Angela to sarcoma cancer. I didn’t want our 50th year to go unmarked so I have made this the year of giving back. Team Twinnie is the result – our objective is to raise awareness and much needed funds for this amazing charity”.
How much are you hoping to raise?
“Our original target was £1,800, but having completed 25% of the challenges, we’ve already reached £1,020! We’re now hoping to smash our original target but will need everyone’s help to do this”.

We are also taking part in The Rowans Hospice Moonlit Memory Walk, putting together a team of 50 entrants to celebrate Angela’s 50th year. What events do you have coming up for the rest of the year?
“The next run is the Bushy Park 5k on 14th April which we are very much looking forward to. The main event however is the Great South Run in October. This 10 mile run is going to be a huge challenge but a great opportunity to raise vital funds and awareness for Sarcoma UK”.
