Ferryspeed Academy
Keeping staff up to speed when it comes to training and compliance is all in day's work at Ferryspeed thanks to the launch of their new Academy.
Following a partnership with Highfield Awarding Body for Compliance (HABC), one of the top 10 awarding organisations in the UK, Ferryspeed can now provide accredited training in food safety and HACCP (hazard analysis and critical control points).
Ferryspeed believe that every member of staff should have access to training and the opportunity to acquire new skills. "We're very proud to have launched the Ferryspeed Academy and to have such a wealth of subjects and courses on offer to our staff,"
"The training academy ethos is now very much a part of the Ferryspeed Group and we're delighted that the Academy is up and running across all of our depots. Staff are able to gain both professional qualifications and hands-on experience, and the response to date has been extremely positive,".
In Jersey, a team is working with local colleges to identify training and apprenticeship opportunities. The depot has recently acquired a HIAB Lorry Loader and there are now five staff trained and qualified to NPORS ISO 9001 standard.
As part of the Academy, Ferryspeed provides staff with certificated forklift truck (FLT) and pedestrian pallet truck (PPT) training. There is ongoing training depot-wide to maintain operator skills; to date, 10 Guernsey staff and approximately 60 Jersey staff have successfully completed FLT and PPT training.
The Jersey depot conducted a full evacuation drill recently which was overseen by the States of Jersey Fire & Rescue Service. And in Guernsey, the Academy is taking shape following the completion of training for new fire marshals and the provision of first aid training.
