Ferryspeed Cake Off Contest – The results are in…
This news release was published on: 07 October 2016
For the 3rd year running, Ferryspeed has taken part in the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for the Macmillan Cancer Support charity which provides medical, emotional and financial support for people living with cancer in the UK.
This year, Trish Higham, Group Business Manager organised a ‘Ferryspeed Cake Off’ contest inviting staff at the Ferryspeed Portsmouth office to take part in baking a cake of their choice.
Andrew Parsons, Customs Adminstrator who judged the contest had the difficult decision of selecting which of the delicious cakes would win a coveted place in the ‘Ferryspeed Cake Off’.
And what a selection to choose from; a Victoria sponge cake topped with strawberries and cream, golden flapjacks, cheese cake sprinkled with chocolate flakes and fairy cakes decorated with butterflies to name but a few.
After much deliberation, Andrew selected the following top 3 bakers…
In 1st place: Elisa Dowdell (Customer Services)
In 2nd place: Elizabeth Davey (Customs)
In 3rd place: Charlotte Bryant (Shipping)
From L to R: Elisa Dowdell, Andrew Parsons, Elizabeth Davey, Daniel Motunbo receiving Charlotte Bryant’s certificate on her behalf.
Ferryspeed said “We would like to thank everyone for all their hard efforts, contributions and baking. “We raised £2000 in total and exceeded last year’s total – all thanks to everyone who took part.”
We had a great response from all the staff taking part in the day whether baking or eating the cakes and of course a big thank you to all those companies and people who donated prizes for the raffle.
Special thanks to Sally Newman and Rosie Salter who sold all their raffle books and for Andy Camp who did a wonderful job in the warehouse selling tickets.
We also had a dress down day which staff paid to take part in too.
