Ferryspeed Proud to Support Jersey Zoo’s ‘Extinction!’ Trail
Ferryspeed is proud to be the official Transport Partner for ‘Extinction!’, a new summer trail at Jersey Zoo featuring 20 extinct animal sculptures made from colourful toy bricks.
As part of our support for the event, Ferryspeed delivered the sculptures to Jersey at no cost, helping Jersey Zoo bring the ‘Extinction!’ trail to the island.
The trail gives visitors the chance to discover creatures that once roamed the planet, while also encouraging conversations about extinction, conservation and the importance of protecting wildlife for future generations.
Bringing Extinct Animals Back to Jersey
Running until 31 August, the ‘Extinction!’ trail offers visitors a very different way to explore Jersey Zoo.
Across the site, families can come face-to-face with a collection of impressive extinct animal sculptures, each built from colourful toy bricks and designed to capture the imagination.
Among the animals featured are a 3.5-metre-tall woolly mammoth, a hissing titanoboa and a giganthopithecus. Together, the sculptures help bring these extraordinary creatures to life and give visitors an opportunity to learn more about the animals that once shared our planet.
The trail has been created to be both entertaining and thought-provoking. While the scale and colour of the sculptures make them instantly engaging, the wider message behind the exhibition is an important one.
By looking back at species that have already disappeared, visitors are encouraged to think about the pressures facing wildlife today and why conservation work matters.
Delivering 20 Sculptures to the Island
Moving 20 large and detailed sculptures to Jersey required careful planning and dependable transport coordination.
As Transport Partner for the trail, Ferryspeed used its freight experience, resources and connections to ensure the collection reached the island safely and efficiently.
Each item needed to be handled with care throughout the journey, with the timing of the delivery coordinated around the preparations taking place at Jersey Zoo.
We were pleased to provide the transport at no cost, helping remove one of the practical challenges involved in bringing an exhibition of this size to the Channel Islands.
For Ferryspeed, the project was an opportunity to use our logistics expertise in a way that directly supports the local community.

Not every delivery involves standard pallets or everyday commercial goods.
Some projects require a more tailored approach because of the size, shape or nature of the items being transported. The ‘Extinction!’ collection is a good example of how careful coordination can help unusual and specialist freight reach its destination safely.
The sculptures needed to arrive in suitable condition and within the timeframe required for installation at the zoo.
That meant working closely with those involved in the project and making sure the transport process supported the wider event schedule.
For our team, it was a particularly rewarding delivery. The finished trail allows visitors to enjoy the sculptures throughout the summer, while also raising awareness of an issue that affects wildlife across the world.
An Exhibition for the Whole Family
The ‘Extinction!’ trail has been designed to appeal to visitors of different ages.
Children can enjoy spotting the sculptures and taking in their scale, while adults can explore the stories behind the animals and the wider conservation themes raised by the exhibition.
